Babenzele Children

Babenzele Children
Near Makao, Northern Congo, 1994
I traveled really far to reach a group of Babenzele pygmies living isolated in the deep forest. They were definitely unsure of the tall white stranger. One morning, while the rest of the clan was net hunting, I was left in the forest camp with grandma and the youngest children. I made this image while they hid from me in a dark leaf hut.
