Rhinoceros

Rhinoceros
San Diego Wild Animal Park, California, USA, 1992
A male Northern White Rhinoceros, representing the last of its kind, was brought to the zoo in hopes of breeding with two old females. To my knowledge this program has had no success.

I believe zoos today are realizing that the resources spent in captive breeding schemes is, for the most part, better spent in wild habitat protection.
